Viaje Zombie Farmer Bill Hatchet
What can you say about Andre Farkas, President of Los Angeles based Viaje Cigar Company, that has not already been spoken, printed or discussed on the internet and social media? Well I will say he is a bit crazy. Crazy good at making truly boutique small batch cigars that are never boring and always tasty. Given the current stance of the FDA towards the cigar market it is men like Andre that continue to give us cigar smokers hope with a commitment to making great cigars.
“Viaje represents the idea that quality is better than quantity. That small is better than big. That few are better than many.” Well said and Farmer Bill Hatchet is a real testament to what he often says, “Join us in the revolution against mediocrity.”
Farmer Bill Hatchet is part of the Zombie line of releases that have come to market over the past 6 – 7 years. There is a whole line of Zombie smokes each a different blend in various sizes. The Zombie concept is one that started with some initial cigar releases that “infected” you with great flavor and aromatics (Skull and Bones WMD), then Zombie, then Antidote, SuperShot, BioHazard and well you can see the path Zombies are going down. This stick is a Nicaraguan delight but the actual blend like the origin of all Zombies is not known but this 5 1/2 x 54 box-press; previous iterations were 7 x 52 box-press, has a deep dark brown wrapper that is smooth and rich but not oily. The initial light of the foot present notes of cocoa giving way to coffee, mild pepper and darker earthen notes thru the midpoint. As Zombies go it might be the BEST but smoke one for yourself, don’t be scared, your palette may notice things that I do not but it’s a solid stick.
