Not Your Grandfather’s Golf Tournament
LOUISVILLE, KY – The Republic Bank Players Challenge Providing support for both the Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family and Career Services, the Republic Bank Players Challenge will be held on Monday, June 24 at Standard Country Club. Although this event is in its 15th year, this year, it won’t be like any in the past. Sure, the golfers will still play in a scramble beginning at 12pm and the card players will still enjoy bridge, canasta and mahjong. But, there will also be new elements introduced into this year’s event from start to finish. It’ll begin with 11:00 lunch catered by A Louisville Favorite, Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill and a hot, new food truck, Peace, Love and Eggrolls will provide Light Snacks. The golfers will enjoy fun, new challenges on the green. Plus, everyone in the community will be invited for a BBQ picnic at 5pm outside of the clubhouse with live music from The Wulfe Bros. band, Bourbon tastings and unique live and silent auctions.
Admission for the golf scramble is $275 per golfer and teams of four are invited to register for only $1,000 before Derby. Golfers age 35 or younger are invited to register before Derby for only $195. Golf registration includes the post-tournament party. Admission to the card games is $30. If you’d like to attend the community BBQ picnic at 5pm, a $20 donation is requested.
More than 130 people are expected to participate in the golf tournament, which raises more than $75,000 annually for the two organizations. The money supports The J’s Yachad program which provides inclusive camp opportunities to children with learning and behavioral challenges. The funds also subsidize counseling at JFCS for families who are seeking child and family therapy services to ensure that they can strengthen their lives, learn more effective communication and decision-making skills and improve the lives of their families.
Registrations and sponsorships are still available and can be done online at www.jfcslouisville.org/golf
