If you keep up with fighting and modern self-defense practices, you have probably heard of Krav Maga. Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defense Forces that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, boxing, wrestling and judo along with realistic fight training.
Making its start in the 1930’s, Krav Maga originated when Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld had to defend the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. It has since been adopted and modified for civilian, police and military applications.
This form of martial arts has spread all over the world and has even reached Louisville KY. Since 2005, Reality Krav Maga, Israeli Self Defense Club, has provided the Louisville Metro Area with authentic military-style Krav Maga.
Focusing on self-defense, fighting skills and fitness, Reality Krav Maga, provides a platform that will continue to grow their method of self-defense in the Louisville Community.
Krav Maga is different from other fighting sports because of its focus on real-life situations and it’s extremely efficient. The fighting style emphases simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers while neutralizing the assailant. Students learn to defend against all variety of attacks and are taught to counter in the quickest and most efficient way.
Like other fighting styles, Krav Maga, encourages students to avoid confrontation. However, if this is impossible or unsafe, it promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible like a bonafide badass. Krav Maga techniques are aimed to help you avoid severe injury, while some permanently injure or cause death to your opponent.
