Monday Night Brewing Slap Fight IPA

by

One of the best things about going on vacation is finding new beers to try out and bring home. On a recent trip to Alabama for some beach time, I happened Atlanta’s Monday Night Brewing with a name I couldn’t resist: Slap Fight IPA. Yeah, that one called my name, and the teal can had a fun image on it as well.

This one has sort of a West Coast IPA appeal, with a big malty presentation and surprising bitterness (for just 58 IBUs, anyway) to go with subtle tropical notes. There is a pungency to this beer, and a bit of peppery spice, and at first, I was intrigued but not convinced. By the time I got to the end of the pint glass, however, I was on board. So I drank another one.

This one can’t be found in Louisville, but if you’re heading south this summer, keep your eyes peeled for it – it’s well worth giving it a shot. And you have to like a beer description that ends with this quote: “Present this beer to a friend. If he does not drink it immediately, slap him as hard as you can. Repeat.”
