Top Five Hiking Shoes


Being in the full swing of hiking season, make sure to be up to date with the latest and greatest gear.  To help you, we have compiled a list of the top five hiking shoes this year.

The first shoe that caught our eye was the Keen Men’s Targhee II.  The Targhee II places in our top five featuring not only its lightweight, durable construction but also its ultra-dry waterproof exterior.  KEEN’s signature waterproof protection stands up to the wettest conditions and the bulky outsole adds for extra traction.   This shoe also offers extra toe protection and secure lacing helping it place in our top five.


Bedrock’s Cairn Sandals

Next up on our list is Bedrock’s Cairn Sandals.  After five years of R&D, a new super-secure strap system, and exclusive sole design from Vibram®, this hiking sandal is ready for off-road adventure from the trail to rivers and everything in between. The minimalist design conforms to your feet for superior ground feel and traction.  Comfortability and durability were the biggest rated this shoe in our top five.


North Face Ultra 109 GTX

Another shoe that made our list is the North Face Ultra 109 GTX.  This trail running shoe features an ESS midfoot shank and EVA midsole that help create extra support and comfort for day hiking and backpacking trips.  The shoe also has GORE-TEX® waterproof stability and rugged, double UltrATAC™ rubber soles to help gain extra traction for solid footing on both wet or dry surfaces.  This shoes traction and comfortability placed it in our top five.


Merrell’s Moab Ventilator

Next up is Merrell’s Moab Ventilator.  This Moab offers all-day comfort in uncomfortable places with its Vibram® soles that give this shoe extra comfort and support.  This shoe is a great choice for trail running and casual hiking.  Not only is it a well-rounded shoe but it’s also one of the less pricey options.  Affordability along with its featured Vibram® soles is why this shoe made the list.


La Sportiva FC ECO 2.0

The last one our list is certainly not the least.  The La Sportiva FC ECO 2.0 delivers great traction even better foot support.  Its casual unassuming appearance makes these shoes even more versatile by making them appropriate not only on the trail but also in the office.  The shoe is very durable and offers a snug comfortable fit.  Its slick appearance and versatility are the main reasons this shoe placed in our top five hiking shoes this year.
