Louisville Brewfest
The 8th annual Louisville Brewfest, presented by the Louisville Independent Business Alliance, was yet another win. The weather was sunny and generally perfect, setting the scene for beer fans both serious and casual to roam the concourses of Slugger Field sipping and socializing.
Four local breweries brewed special selections with the help of four local media/arts/culinary personalities: Mayor Greg Fischer with Falls City Brewing; Forecastle founder J.K. McKnight with Goodwood Brewing; Chef Edward Lee with Monnik Beer Co., and WFPK DJ and ear X-tacy founder John Timmons, who worked with Great Flood Brewing.
Some 20 local and regional breweries rolled out their wares, as did area wineries and distilleries, and a few select food vendors. One of the best scores of the day – aside from all the delicious beer, of course – was my experience with the chicken wings from River City Drafthouse. Holy cow, guys. How did I not know about this before?
Anyway, if you missed it, it will be back next year with more celebrity brews and plenty more beers to sample. And hopefully some more of those wings.
